I am the gr. gr. grndson of Benjamin JONES of Sparta Ohio. I would like to share this info with anyone interested. Ben Jones was born in Carlmarthin, South Wales, March 9, 1823. He came to this country when he was 17 and settled in Morrow Co. At 22 yrs of age he married Hannah MORRIS and moved to Delaware Co.in 1852 then to Sandusky Co. in 1854. He enlisted in Co. D 72 O.V.V.I. in 1861, was wounded at the battle of Shiloh in 62. In 1882 his wife died. He returned then to Morrow Co. and in 1884 married Mrs. Katharyn DEXTER of Sparta at whose home he lived until his death. His first daughter Sarah (my gr.grndmother), married Alfred B. MCCREARY in 1871 and lived in Wood Co. Sarah had 2 children, Frank O. born 1872 and Nettie May (my grandmother) in 187?. I have the original insurance policy on the home of Ben and Katharyn in Sparta dated 1898 listing the home as a 1-1/2 story frame house on the west side of East Main St. in Sparta. I would greatly appreciate any other info I could obtain on the Jones family.

I am researching the parents of our ancester John A. ALDRICH born 1827 in Ohio. His obit stated he was born in Chinnan Co. but I have not located that County in Ohio. He was married and lived in Morrow Co. in 1850. He stated his parents were Isaah and Abigail WILCOX ALDRICH. The census listed Isaah's children still living at home as Ferelon b.1830, Timothy b.1836, Sarah b.1841 and LaFayette b. 1845. John and wife Catherine lived nearby. Also living near Isaah were other Aldrich's: Timothy b:1795, Joseph b:1803, Smith b:1805, Sylvester b:1824, and James b:1820. I would appreciate any information you might have on these people.

Adin BURT was born August 22, 1842 in Cardington, Morrow County, in the home of John Beatty, who later became General John BEATTY of the Civil War and in whose regiment Adin fought. Adin's parents were Joseph BURT (born PA) and Emily BURT (born OH), born around 1820. Other children: Helen BURT (1843), Marvin BURT (1845), Ira BURT (1850). Emily became very ill and went back to her parents' house in Cardington and died Oct 12 1852. Adin made a second marriage to Denzer or Dency SCOFIELD in 1854 and had Lyman BURT, Luralla BURT, and Theodosia BURT. I believe Joseph was related to Cardington silversmith Ebenezer BURT. Joseph was a farmer but also had a contract to build a railroad near Bellefontaine. Adin was a travelling fur trader after the Civil War. I'm seeking to extend the pedigree of Joseph and Emily. This family is giving me fits - connect if you can. Jane Peppler, 5301 Cedronella Drive, Chapel Hill NC 27514.
